Our website is full of links saying ‘More’ leading to other pages with more in-depth content. I’m amending the alt text on those links so they are descriptive (explaining what and where they go to) but do I also need to change ‘More’ for screen readers?

The alt text mentioned is really the title attribute. This should only be used to enhance good link text. Improving the link text itself from "More" improves it for everyone, including anyone using assistive technologies.
